Overview
The Learning & Community Development Programme supports children from underserved and migrant communities through safe, structured learning environments designed to address learning gaps and reduce the risk of early school dropout.
The programme focuses on strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy among children aged 4–15, while supporting their overall development. Through remedial education and arts-based learning, children build confidence, creativity, and a sense of engagement that encourages them to stay connected to school.
Recognising that children in these communities often face multiple barriers, including limited access to quality education, healthcare, and stable living conditions, the programme adopts an integrated, community-based approach that extends beyond academics. Alongside learning support, children receive daily nutritional assistance and access to healthcare services. The programme also engages families and communities to strengthen awareness and support systems, helping create an environment where children can learn, grow, and remain engaged in their education.

Kusumpur Pahari, Vasant Vihar, Delhi
Each year, the Kusumpur Pahari Learning Centre supports ~120 children aged 4–15 through remedial education to strengthen basic skills and help them stay engaged in school. Children are grouped by age and learning level, allowing personalised support and steady progress.
Children at the centre receive daily nutrition, access regular health check-ups, and develop self-expression through art, music, theatre, and storytelling. Life skills are integrated into daily routines, while parents and caregivers are engaged through nutrition and healthy practices sessions that reinforce learning and wellbeing at home.
Until 2022, the centre functioned as a bridge school for out-of-school children. It has since evolved into a Learning Centre, offering remedial education along with arts-based learning to support overall growth.

Ekta Camp, Vasant Kunj, Delhi
The Ekta Camp Learning Centre brings together education, digital literacy, healthcare, and access to essential services under one roof. Many children aged 4–15 attend remedial and after-school classes, while out-of-school youth are supported through Open Basic Education and National Institute of Open Schooling pathways. A dedicated Digital Lab introduces adolescents and young adults to basic computer skills and internet use, strengthening confidence and employability.
Regular doctor visits, health camps, and sessions on nutrition, hygiene, and wellbeing at both the centres ensure accessible healthcare for the children and the community.
The Ekta Camp also houses a Common Service Centre (Jan Seva Kendra), enabling community members to access essential services such as Aadhaar, PAN, and income certificates, as well as support in availing government welfare schemes.

Dance Opens New Possibilities for Abdul Kalam
Abdul Kalam, a Class 11 student from a modest family, joined Ritinjali with low confidence and limited interest in studies. Through opportunities for self-expression, he discovered a passion for dance and began participating actively in programme activities. Performances at Ritinjali Utsav and the National Youth Day programme at Vishwa Yuvak Kendra helped strengthen his self-belief and motivation. Today, he is focused on his education and pursuing his dream of a future in choreography.

Sajida Strengthens Her Digital Skills
Sajida Khatun, a 17-year-old student from Ekta Camp, joined Ritinjali's Digital Literacy Programme to build her computer skills. Through regular practice and guidance, she developed proficiency in MS Office and cyber safety, showing strong progress throughout the programme. Now pursuing Class 12, Sajida hopes to continue her education and build a career in teaching.

Atif, a Class 5 student from a humble household, initially attended classes irregularly and lacked confidence in academic settings. With consistent encouragement and individual support, he became more engaged in learning and regular in attendance. His interest in painting, singing, and music flourished through programme activities, particularly the Shabad Shaala sessions. These creative experiences strengthened his self-belief, contributing to improved academic participation and a growing enthusiasm for learning. Today, Atif is more motivated, disciplined, and enthusiastic about learning and exploring new opportunities.
