Night School

“A little boy of twelve wakes up at 6.00 a.m. to stand in a queue to fill water. He gets to work soon after and earns his living carrying heavy loads that even most adults can't. He sees exotic food around him, but knows that he can't eat it. He gets only four hours to rest, but he can't sleep, as he needs to work and send money home…What is his future?”
He comes to Ritinjali's Night School every night with the hope that he can build a better future. The school caters to boys between the ages of 12 to 20 years. These children work as porters during the day and attend school by night. NDMC has allowed Ritinjali to use the premises of Navyug School , INA Market from 9.00pm to 10.30 pm every night for running the school.

The boys at the Night School are very aware despite lack of formal education. Ritinjali staff and volunteers teach the children according to a prescribed academic curriculum that includes Ritinjali's Core Curriculum - an intensive extra-curricular and interactive learning programme, including games, theatre, music and art.
Along with basic education, the boys at the Night School are also taught to believe in themselves and to stand on their own feet. We at Ritinjali help facilitate a change in their lives.
