DALIL EKTA CAMP ( NEW DELHI )
Dalil Ekta Camp is a slum cluster comprising around 250 jhuggis. Most of the children in this locality do not attend regular school. This project involves providing basic education to the children residing in these slum clusters, located behind the Vasant Kunj Police Station. This is one of the latest projects that Ritinjali has undertaken. The centre is divided into 3 sections, based on the student’s current knowledge levels. A dedicated teacher conducts classes at the Centre from 2.30 to 4.30 pm, 6 days a week. The children are taught various subjects such as English, Hindi, Mathematics and Environmental Science. With the enhancement in their knowledge level, some children are already looking to get admitted in Government Schools. The center has become so popular that children from the neighbouring slum cluster have started frequenting the centre as well. Ritinjali provides the children with books and stationary as and when required, as well as with clothes, blankets etc.

The children are taken for picnics and excursions to various places such as India Gate, Raj Ghat, the Doll Museum, Nehru Planetarium and many other places of historical and cultural significance. Experiential learning is an integral part of the curriculum. The excursions and picnics are planned in such a way that fun and enjoyment as well as learning and knowledge go hand in hand. For many students of the Center, going for these picnics has been a completely new experience and one that has given them a whole new take on life. The students were recently taken for the screening of the animated movie "Hanuman" which was again an experience which each of them cherished.
