DALIL EKTA CAMP
VASANT KUNJ
Dalil Ekta Camp (DEC) is a slum cluster located behind Vasant Kunj Police Station comprising around 250 jhuggis. Most of the children in this locality do not attend regular school. DEC provides basic education to the children who live in these slum clusters.
The centre is divided into 3 sections, based on the student’s current knowledge levels. A dedicated teacher conducts classes at the Centre from 2.30 to 4.30 pm, 6 days a week. The children are taught various subjects such as English, Hindi, Mathematics and Environmental Science. The academic curriculum is strengthened by an interactive learning programme that includes games, music, theatre and arts. Many children are mainstreamed into the neighbhouring Government Schools once they have reached the required level. Forty-five children are currently enrolled at the centre, of which thirty-six are regular. The children take part in activities such as drawing and games.

Ritinjali provides the children with books and stationary as and when required, as well as with clothes, blankets etc. The children are regularly taken out for picnics and excursions to places such as India Gate, Raj Ghat, the Doll Museum, Nehru Planetarium, and the Garden of Five senses. Experiential learning is viewed by Ritinjali as an integral part of the curriculum. There is emphasis on the educational component of these excursions, which makes it a wholesome, as well as a fun learning experience.
The children of the Centre prepared a skit based on “Tiger Conservation “which they presented on the occasion of Ritinjali’s birthday celebrations held on the 12th of February 2011 at Anandgram.
At Dalil Ekta Camp , we try to instil self-esteem and confidence into the children to enable them to find their place in society.
