
Ritinjali Fundraisers
For well over 12 years Ritinjali has been quietly going about the business of building lives. Over the last 12 years,Ritinjali has been involved in a series of projects - from setting up a library and counseling centre in Tihar Jail to providing education to children living in slums of Kusumpur Pahari (Vasant Vihar), Nathupur Pahari (Gurgaon) and many others. When Tsunami struck Karaikal in Pondicherry on December 26, 2004 we were there before the others were. Progressively, we partnered the people and reconstructed lives and livelihood in the village of vovar in Gujarat after the earthquake. Needless to add, building lives requires not only courage but also funds to run these projects. Which is why fundraisers are a regular feature of Ritinjali’s yearly calendar. One of the first fundraisers was an musical evening with Usha Uthup which was held at the Indian Habitat Centre.
An Evening with Robin Metz:- Ritinjali organised a poetry reading session by the renowned American poet Robin Metz, winner of Rainer Maria Rilke International Poetry Prize at the Magnolia Hall, India Habitat Centre.
Jazz Concert for Peace: A wonderful evening of Jazz concert was held at the Indian Habitat Centre. Ms. Lenora Zenzalai Hem, the former Jazz ambassador of America enthralled the audience with her divine voice for the entire evening.
Time out -Corporate Five a side Soccer challenge:Corporate teams came out to shoot out for greater glories in the field. The event was an innovative five a side soccer tournament. The participating corporate houses, who played the five-a-side tournament included Coca-Cola, Seagram,Electroloux,Gillette,ITC Hotels, Microsoft, Daikin, Mayor International, HSBC,India Today, Dr. Morepen, Fosters, British Gas and Sony.
Musical Sojourn with Christine Matovich : When entertainment combines with a social cause, it promises to be a special experience. Christine Matovich, an east village, New York opera singer performed with the children of Ritinjali’s learning and vocational training center(Kusumpur Pahari) at the QBA restaurant bar.
Second Chance Golf Tournament: The Second Chance Golf Tournament is a unique event, leveraging as it does the medium of golf to sucessfully raise funds for underprivileged children. This is the 4th edition of the tournament. In the past years many noble corporates have joined hands with us by participating in this tournament and thus helping in raising funds.
