AIIMS Cancer Ward

A report by Ms Abha Ranjan
- Working on the AIIMS IRCH project we have identified the need to develop a volunteer base. This can take on one on one tutoring of children with cancer who are not attending school regularly.
Ritinjali is now involved with developing a curriculum for mobile school vans, which will provide educational activities to children in three locations (AIIMS, APOLLO, Batra Cancer Center).
Volunteers of Ritinjali are requested to signup for the back to school project. This would require that one volunteer accompanies the child with cancer to his/ her school. The volunteer will be responsible for sensitizing the teachers, classmate and school authorities about cancer and particular child's special needs. The aim here is to make the transition back to school easier and smoother for the child.
Besides the above, in the past four weeks the children have also developed a wish list. Ritinjali plans to weave educational concepts around wishes, dreams and realization of the same. A set of books on ‘I WANT TO BECOME' will be used to develop the “Dreams into Reality” learning theme.
Further, 9th October is Breast Cancer day and the children will make red flowers symbolising the fight against cancer. These will be worn by delegates attending a seminar that Can-kids is hosting on the 9 th .
On an average 20 children attend the Thursday OPD and Ritinjali has been providing text books in Hindi, English and Mathematics as and when required by individual children.

Volunteers required for tutoring children suffering from cancer.
People living in Ghaziabad, Gurgaon and other near by areas are requested to come forward
