Kusumpur Pahari Children go on a Picnic :-
The Kusumpur Pahari children were taken for a picnic at the Children's Park near India Gate. Mr. Arvind Malhotra and Mrs. Raadil Tuli volunteered to escort the children. Mrs. Raadil Tuli had arranged the picnic meal. The picnic was held at the Children's Park so that the children could play and enjoy to their heart's content, which they did.
The bus arrived at Kusumpur Pahari on the morning of 29 th November and 45 children left for the Children's Park soon after. Mr. Arvind Malhotra and Mrs.Tuli joined them at the venue. The children had a great time on the swings. They played till 11:30 am after which the lunch was served. They heartily enjoyed their lunch.
They played some more after lunch and soon it was time for the return journey. On their way back they played Antakshari. They had a wonderful time and are already looking forward to their next picnic.
The volunteers also enjoyed their time with the children and they too are looking forward to spending another day with the children.
In the month of December children from Nathupur Pahari are slated to go on a picnic.
Preparations at Kusumpur Pahari :-
On 2 nd of December Honourable Hilary Benn, Secretary of State for International Development, UK , is slated to visit the Learning Center at Kusumpur Pahari.
The visit to the Learning Center was organized by Universalisation of Elementary Education (UEE) in order to showcase the difference UEE has been able to make to the communities. Ms Rita Rani, Nodal Officer, UEE, has recommended the name of our Learning Centre to showcase the work. There is hectic activity amongst teachers and students at the Learning Centre, in anticipation of the visit.
Dr. Sanjiv Kumar and DFID officials are visiting the Centre regularly to finalise the sequence of events.
The delegation is going to observe the teachers and students in their environment and the teaching techniques used. The delegates will also study the involvement of the Learning Centre within the community and the various initiatives that have been taken towards that.
They will also interact with the students and answer their queries. A meeting with a few members of the Parents Teachers Association is also planned. The visit will end with a short dance performance by the students.
Tea and coffee will be served during the performance.
We are looking forward to make the visit a success.
Ritinjali co- sponsors ‘Ramayana on Wheels' :-
Ritinjali co-sponsored ‘Ramayana on Wheels' presented by differently-abled Children of Akshay Pratishthan. The show was held on 25 th November 2004 at the Kamani Auditorium. It was a wonderful show, where the children overcame all odds and gave a brilliant performance.
Ms. Shiela Dixit was the Chief Guest for the evening. The performance was much appreciated and enjoyed by everyone present.
