The 6 th batch that is currently in progress is being taught how to cut and stitch umbrella frocks and tucks, pleats and salwar suits. The students were also told about all the precautions to be taken while operating the sewing machines.
The students of the 5 th batch, meanwhile, appeared for their examinations. The practical examinations were conducted at the Centre.
A farewell party was organized for them after their examinations. Everyone got together and sang songs and danced to some music and helped themselves to refreshments.
The Tailoring students and their staff teamed up with the students and staff of the two Vocational Centres at Kusumpur Pahari and visited the Craft Museum , Raj Ghat and the Children's Park at India Gate. It was a great experience for all the girls at the Craft Museum as they were exposed to different kinds of arts and crafts from across the country. They spent a lot of time perusing through the art objects on display at the Visual Store.
The girls also benefited hugely from the workshop conducted to demonstrate the ‘ Hathkargha' that is used to weave silk cloth. They learnt about ‘ Nakkashikari' on pots from the Kashmiri artisans. They also enjoyed folk dance and music and learnt a few dance steps from the folk dancers and musicians from Madhya Pradesh.
The next stop which was Raj Ghat and the Gandhi Museum was a lesson in Modern History, particularly to reinforce the life and principles of Mahatma Gandhi.
The girls then let their hair down and enjoyed a game of cricket and badminton and refreshed themselves with snacks at the Children's Park at India Gate.
