Summer has asserted itself with the rising mercury and squalls and dust storms aplenty, and it is time for the children at the Learning Centres to take a break from their regular academic schedule. After the examinations and assessments at the end of the term, most of the children have gone to their villages and will be back only after their summer vacations.
A staff meeting was held at the Ritinjali Office at Mahipalpur. Staff members from all the Centres were present and different issues were discussed. Each teacher was asked to identify two goals which would have to be fulfilled by the end of the academic year.
The teachers have started a mobilization drive by meeting with families and getting the forms sent by the UEE Mission filled. They have already covered 70 houses and got 50 forms filled up.
Namrata Mehra, a volunteer, visits the Centre on Tuesdays and Fridays. She helps to hone the drawing skills of the children and also organizes a few games for them.
Anika Rana, another volunteer, also visits the Centre on Tuesdays and Fridays. She focuses on English conversation for the teachers, with emphasis on story telling.
The doctors from Ranbaxy met with the girls of the Vocational Centres and spoke to them at length about the prevention and cure for various diseases.
The repair work and the whitewash of the Centre, which has been pending for a long time started with effect from the 4 th of May 2008 , and has been completed, giving the Centre a bright, new look.

Cutting and Tailoring
Two new students have joined the Centre. The girls were taught how to draft, cut and stitch ladies shameez, petticoats and frocks.
