SECOND CHANCE SCHOOL
A team from Ranbaxy accompanied by Dr. Nisha Bhat visited the Second Chance School for a medical check up of the boys. She also counseled them on the importance of good health and hygiene. The summer vacation saw most of the boys leave for their villages to spend time with their families. On their return they have been catching up on their holiday homework and also helping out with the cooking in the absence of the cook who has taken off on a holiday too.
KUSUMPUR PAHARI
Mr. John, a retired Professor from the U.K. who has been interacting with the children of the Kusumpur Learning Centre for the last 6 months has left for his homeland. The children who are sure to miss him made a card for him and also helped host a farewell lunch for him. A picnic was organized for the children to Akshardham and to the lotus temple and a wholesome picnic lunch was provided for them too. They were accompanied by their teachers Ms. Subadra ,Ms Shashi, Ms Rajkumari and Mr. Sakur. There was an interactive discussion with the children on the perils and delights of the summer and monsoon seasons. Lemon tea along with old clothes were distributed to the community folk by our staff members.
BEAUTY CULTURE AND HEALTH CARE
The students were given demonstrations and practice in various kinds of beauty treatment such as hair styling and threading ,scalp massage and mehendi, waxing and manicure.
CUTTING AND TAILORING CENTRE
The students of the vocational centre were taught how to cut and stitch a blouse, a 4 and 6 piece skirt and both simple and miyani pyjama.They were also taught how to fix hooks and buttons.They were given a demonstration on how to cut and stitch a frock and undergarments too. Most importantly they were taught how to repair a sewing machine.
NATHUPUR PAHARI
The children were taught yoga exercises and the benefits of regularly practicing yoga was explained to them. Ms. Poonam, a volunteer distributed bananas to the children. Ms. Reena of the Nathupur Learning Centre has worked out the syllabus in consultation with the teachers of the Kusumpur Learning Centre
