DRISHTI

Ritinjali is gearing up for the next phase of training the teachers of Government schools of Kota and Jhalawar districts in the life skills programme. In this context Ms. Benu Khanna, Ms. Dilreen Kaur and Mr. Mahtab Alam Siddiqui of Ritinjali visited the D.I.E.T. and D.E.O. offices in Jhalawar and presented Ritinjali's plan for the next three years.Mr. Himanshu Tyagi, our Master Trainer was contacted to finalise the dates of the training schedule and Capt. A.S. Hada was also consulted on the administrative aspects of the programme. The list of schools in six blocks of Kota and Jhalawar districts to benefit from our training programme has been finalized. The list of teachers who will undergo training will be drawn up after the Rajastan Public Services Commission finalises the transfer and recruitment of teachers for the new academic session in July 2007. The Ritinjali team worked tirelessly and visited various Block Resource Centres situated at the Block level under the U.E.E. Mission to identify teachers who could become Master Trainers after our training programme to carry the effort forward to cover the entire teaching community in the two districts of Kota and Jhalawar. A list of 28 teachers who have the potential to become Master Trainers has been drawn up in consultation with Mr. Zaheeruddin, Principal D.I.E.T who will oversee the entire training programme.

TIHAR JAIL

Our volunteers have distributed the 130 tubes of Colgate toothpaste and 70 sachets of shampoo that were collected from the Ritinjali office to the inmates of the Mullaiza ward of barrack no. 8 through the Deputy Superintendent. The receipt has been collected for the 58 sets of children's clothes that were distributed too. We have received material for the stitching of bags at Jail No.6. The jail authorities have not been able to sell the old sewing machines and if they are not able to do so in another week then we will try and sell the same ourselves. Mr. Vinay Jha of Ritinjali has quite innovatively made a stencil of Ritinjali in plastic. We intend to use these on the cupboards given by Ritinjali and also on the new sewing machines we hope to purchase from the proceeds of the sale of the 4 old machines.

NAARI NIKETAN

Ritinjali volunteers continue to bring succour to the inmates with their visits and their dedicated effort to make a difference to their lives. Two and a half dozen tubes of small Colgate toothpaste from the Ritinjali office were distributed to the inmates of Naari Niketan. The extra snack that we take along for these women on our visits is always greatly appreciated. It is amazing that they are satisfied with so little. Maybe it is the gesture that we at Ritinjali care that brings some cheer into their lives.
